Will they find the land they seek and pass through it safely?
Chapter 9: The Land of Giants
Zunzuncito and Monty had an accident. Monty was on Zuzuncito’s head and, by accident, he covered Zunzuncito’s eyes. Zunzuncito couldn’t see and he fell in the great lake.
They crossed the great lake because Zunzuncito has a mission. His mission is to find the magic flower because he wants to be big. Zunzuncito is not big. He is very small – he is only 5 centimeters long. But Monty doesn’t have a problem with his small size. He just wants to help Zunzuncito on his mission.
Monty caused the accident on the lake because he was afraid. He was afraid of the big lake and the big fish in the lake. Monty felt bad that he caused the accident, but Zunzuncito is a good friend and he forgives Monty. Now they are on the shell of a good turtle.
The good turtle swims to the other side of the great lake with Zunzuncito and Monty on her shell. While she swims, Zunzuncito explains his plan to suck the nectar from the magic flower to become a bigger bird.
“Where will you go after you cross the great lake?” the turtle asks them.
“We are going to the land of giants,” Zunzuncito responds. “Do you know where it is?”
“I think the land of giants is on the other side of the woods.”
The turtle swims calmly in the water and talks about her life. She lives in the lake and the rivers. She likes to swim a lot and she likes to help. She doesn’t eat animals. She eats plants and fruits.
In a short time, the animals arrive at the other side of the great lake. Zunzuncito and Monty get off the friendly turtle’s shell.
“Good luck on your adventure!” the turtle says to Zunzuncito and Monty.
“Thank you, Ms. Turtle!” the two small animals respond as they enter the forest.
Monty hops and Zunzuncito flies through the trees of the forest. Now they need to find the land of giants. It is a little difficult for Zunzuncito and Monty. They are very little and in comparison all the animals are giants.
In the distance, Zunzuncito sees an object. There is an enormous block in the trees. Zunzuncito feels curious. Monty sees the enormous block and feels curious too.
Monty and Zunzuncito go towards the enormous block. When they arrive at the enormous block, they see other enormous blocks and they see strange creatures. The creatures walk on two feet and they are very tall. They don’t have wings, they have arms. Their heads are big circles with two eyes, a nose and a mouth. In their mouth there are white teeth. The creatures are not like other animals in the forest. They are also really big.
“I think we are in the land of giants!” Zunzuncito shouts to Monty. Monty sees the enormous creatures. They are different from the normal animals in the forest, so he thinks that Zunzuncito is right – they are in the land of giants!
“Cool!” Monty replies and asks, “Can you see the entire land? Is the land of giants really big?”
Zunzuncito moves his wings and flies high in the sky. From the sky, Zunzuncito sees a lot of enormous blocks that are obviously the giant’s houses. Some houses are small and others are very, very tall. There are a lot of houses and a lot of giants. Zunzuncito looks in the distance and only sees houses and more houses. He doesn’t see the forest.
“The land of giants is enormous!” Zunzuncito tells Monty. “I can’t see the other side.”
“Well, we don’t have a minute to waste. To the land of giants!” Monty announces.
The two small animals hop and fly. They pass a lot of houses and giants. The giants don’t see the animals because the animals are very, very small and the giants are very, very big.
Zunzuncito thinks that the land of giants is really interesting. The houses have different shapes and colors. The giants are also very different. Some giants have long hair and others have short hair. Some giants have brown skin and others have pale skin.
Zunzuncito looks inside some of the houses. He sees fruits, vegetables and meat. He sees sweets and desserts. He sees electronics and paper. Zunzuncito is fascinated with all of the objects of the giants.
Suddenly, Zunzuncito sees a house that he doesn’t like. In the house there are animals, but all the animals are in cages. Zunzuncito remembers the spider web. The animals in the cages are trapped in a similar manner. Zunzuncito thinks that it is terrible.
“Monty, look! The animals are trapped. They need help. We have to free them!” Zunzuncito exclaims.
